Astroscale welcomes that the ITU’s recently concluded Plenipotentiary Conference (Sept.-Oct. 2022) adopted a Resolution entitled “Sustainability of radio spectrum and associated satellite orbit resources used by space services”. This Resolution recognized and addressed within the competence of the ITU the urgency of addressing the important issue of enabling sustainable, efficient, and equitable use of the orbital (and frequency) resources. The Resolution called for various actions in this regard to be undertaken by the ITU and also by the ITU Member States when authorizing non-GSO systems. Astroscale is pleased to see the ITU take appropriate actions, such as creation of this Resolution and directed studies, in support of the worldwide effort to realize sustainable space.
